Social Media is Not an Option

In three previous posts we have worked our way through the basic steps of setting up shop  online and keeping it all running smoothly. With all of that in place we can now begin to work proactively. Social media is the next step. It begins with the development of pages at the various social portals. Our company provides management services for Facebook, Google+, Twitter and Pinterest. But there may be others that are important to your particular industry. Social Media is a great place to employ teamwork to accomplish all that has to happen consistently, which I will cover below.

Google + Potential Game Changer

Google once had a social network, Google Buzz, created early on that didn’t work out. They went back to the drawing board. This writer thinks they thought long and hard about the competitive landscape before recently launching Google +. With much aplomb, it launched and has grown a substantial audience. Just recently though, they opened up the ability for businesses to create marketing pages. What do you think they were up to for the past 30 or so months? Here is what I surmise:

Social Media Auto Posting Misses the Point

You are overloaded. It’s a fact. Before the internet came along you were already plenty busy. It’s taken you a decade of weening yourself from traditional media, transferring marketing dollars over to the digital side of the coin.

Now, along comes the Social Networks (SMM). If a business is to participate, there are so many things to learn and do at once. It seems insurmountable. Smart marketers saw this early on and developed management tools. A component of most of these tools is the ability to “load” posts for Twitter (or Facebook and others) to autopost in the future. And it is oh-so-easy to flip the switch that auto posts whatever you post at Twitter directly onto Facebook. Whew! That cuts down the workload.

Click +1 To See What Happens

Social SEO is increasing in importance in the world of Search Engine Optimization. Google has been bleeding traffic market share to the social networks, and in an effort to plug the gaps they have released +1. The goal of +1 is to capitalize on relationships, and provide personal recommendations to create a social search experience for Google users.

The +1 Button works in a similar fashion to the Facebook LIKE Button. When a Google user is signed into their Google account, they can ‘+1’ websites which signifys that the user endorses or recommends the site. The important thing to remember is that everyone will see your +1 regardless of whether they are part of your Google social circle or not. [Read more…]
